This is an English Heritage site situated near Tilbury in Essex and was originally built during the reign of Elizebeth 1st to protect London from any French invasion (seems to have worked) .The special event call was first activated in May 2006 following several visits by members of the club its very open and has proved very good for DX contacts see below .

	Just a few stations worked from the fort in May 2006 on HF using the FT920 plus the Heathkit Linear using around 400 W
The "Shack" at the fort is a small room along the battlements which leaks a bit and only enough room for the HF gear with the G5RV centre mounted on the flag pole and tied off each end in an inverted V formation.Seen in the picture are Dave M1GDH and Paul M1HMP operating while Peter G0IAP and George M1GEO help!

VHF operation is outside if the weather is ok below are Paul and Iordan
